Part Three: Tools to communicate and collaborate_Ch. 8-14

Chapter 12 WIKIS

To teach collaborative team work, our group chose to try out Google Docs
because we heard/used it before.  We weren’t very familiar with it so it was a good opportunity for us to explore.  We started by creating a document and sharing it with our group via email addresses. Everyone added their inputs and ideas into the document. We then created a Google group then tried out a google presentation where each one of us tested out how we can use this tool in our class.

I am impressed by how easy it is to work with! I urge my students to use creative presentations; however, once they shared their ideas, it was one person’s job to create that presentation. No more one person’s job! It’s going to be a collaborative team work from now on!

My students, English language learners, can use this free tool to create and share instantly and securely from anywhere. In addition to collaborative team work, students can help other students who were absent by posting short summaries of lessons and homework information.
