For this portion, I’ve tried most of the websites from the book but couldn’t find one I liked to use in my classroom except https://www.edmodo.com/. It is free and user-friendly. I registered as a teacher. Since I used my gmail account for Tech for Teachers, I had to use my work email account. To my surprise, my school was already registered by another teacher. I uploaded a picture and created my edmodo URL https://www.edmodo.com/sunsookhan. I created a group and got a group code which will expire and lock the group 14 days after a group creation. I uploaded a reading file and created a quiz. Then, I joined the communities of my interest to bring relevant discussions. I could connect with other teachers and share files.
For my class, I could load already made files to use as practice tests, leave a short note for absent students, and assignments. Also, I can monitor each student’s progress. Each student can log in with her/his name without adding an email address. What I liked about this website is that students and teachers can give their opinions about a test.
Sounds like you have some great ideas for how you could potentially use this!
